Jimi Allen is a former Illinois College Photographer of the Year, White House Intern and participant in the Eleventh Annual Eddie Adams Workshop. In 1999 he won first place for black and white photography in the national Kodak PDN competition. In 2001 the Illinois Press Photographers Association recognized his portrait of a Dekalb Illinois migrant worker as the best portrait of personality in the state.
A native of Middletown, Ohio, Jimi holds a Masters degree in Visual Communication from Ohio University. He began full-time photojournalism after completing a 1996 Bachelor of Science degree in Botany and a Bachelor of Philosophy edgree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
